and walking with the magnificent metallic blue 1969 Cadillac "Stonewall Car"

Gay parade and he's photo'd very red-faced, ducking down, sitting so low off rear seat that he's on the floor),

(clapping back appreciatively at the clapping crowd). Obscured

(riding 'shotgun' in the car's passenger seat). This is one of
the last photos
of the "Stonewall Car" with the custom, vinyl white lettering on
both sides of the car
stating "STONEWALL Vets' Ass'n" before automotive restoral the
following
year. Location of this photo is on Fifth Avenue just south
of 42nd Street
in front of the historic New York City Public Library. You can see
Patience
the Lion (stoned) in the background with a Gay boy sitting on top of
her. Many other (rather late) Stonewall veterans joined us for the Gay Pride Parade. Our special guest of honor was former U.S. Congressmember Geraldine A. Ferraro, who is also a 1998 U.S. Senate candidate from New York. Rev. Magora Kennedy, the colorfully flamboyant S.V.A. Chaplain, performed the special "Stonewall Prayer", as she does every year, when the S.V.A. parade contingency stops in front of The Stonewall Club on Christopher Street along the parade route. The S.V.A. also does its annual photo-op in front of the place "where it all started". Every year the number of Stonewall Veterans is less and the significance is more. |
